ReplyDeleteIt DOES look like the Dawn Treader, doesn't it? I didn't think of that consciously but it may well have been part of what attracted me to that painting in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI love that book so much. It is one of my favourite books. The drawings in the Narnia books were so fabulous. She died recently, that artist. I wish someone would put on an exhibition of her work - not just hers but other children's book illustrators - the guy who did Wind in the Willows, for instance, and the original Alice in Wonderland pics. I would go like a shot.
